Communicative Approach to English Language Teaching

【Author】 Abstuact: Communicative approach in English language teaching (ELT) is frequently discussed and debated. It is believed by many linguists and teachers to be an effective method to solve some of the teaching and learning problems. This paper gives a comprehensive account of the approach. It presents the advantages of communicative approach in the teaching of English language and how to apply it by means of classroom activities. It suggests that English teachers should conduct further research to remedy the shortcomings in English teaching.
