Citation Linking Project-CrossRef
【Abstract】 In November,1999,12 leading publishers in the USA and Europe agreed to develop a system of reference linking to navigate articles to electronic journal.Based on the agreement,a system named CrossRef was developed.As of June,2000,2700 journals from 10 publishers were linkable.CrossRef uses DOI (Digital Object Identifier)for articles’URLs.Its mechanism,fees,impact on traditional information industry and problems are discussed.
