【Abstract】 Larva of Lepidostoma flavum Ulmer was described and figured for the first time.The biology of larvae of L.flavum and Phryganopsyche latipennis was studied by rearing experiments in laboratory.The prospect of using these two species as bio indicators in clean water was also discussed.Final instar larva of L.flavum Ulmer.Eruciform.Head width 1 2 mm and body length 7 mm.Head light yellowish brown with small light colored dots scattered on posterior half.Antenna situated close to the eye.Pronotum concolorous with head,with posterior margin darkened;numerous fine setae on the anterior margin and with 5 setae on each half of the pronotum near the middle.Mesonotum light yellowish brown,apparently sclerotized,with 1,4,4 setae on Sa 1,Sa 2 and Sa 3 respectively.Metanotum broadly membranous,only weakly sclerotized at the base of Sa 3,with 1,1,6?7 setae on Sa 1,Sa 2 and Sa 3 respectively.Lateral hump presented on each side of 1st abdominal segment.Subdorsal and subventral tracheal gills single,lateral tracheal gills absent.Abdominal segment 1 with 2?5 tracheal gills,segments 3 and 7 each with only two pair of tracheal gills and abdominal segments 4 to 6 each with 4 pair of tracheal gills respectively.Lateral fringe composed of very fine setae,running through 3rd to 7th segments.Each side of 8th segment with one thick thumb like hump.更多还原
