【Abstract】 Code switching refers to the simultaneous utilization of two or more language varieties in one and the same conversation event. Assuming school campus as a natural setting where code switching takes place, this paper explored into the campus utterance data and reported four reasons why people code switch: the special functions a code switching is competent in, the demands of speech environments, the requirements of social interactions, and the mental needs of the interactants. All were believed to be significant in enhancing our understanding and research of the topic under investigation.更多还原
