【Abstract】 The love is the eternal subject matter in Dreiser’s novels. Different from other writers, the love in the works of Dreiser always follows such a mode as“ beginning with tumultuousness but ending with abandoning”, thus the injured always were woman. Dreiser explains it with the theory of“ chemical impact” obstinately, and think that the love is nothing but man’s instinct and the function and result of chemical composition.
