COMPOSITIONAL DEPENDENCE OF THERMAL AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES FOR SINTERED Mo/PSZ COMPOSITES
【Abstract】 For the optimum designing of functional graded materials (FGMs) with thermal barrier and thermal stress release functions, the compositional dependence of the thermal and mechanical properties of sintered Mo/PSZ composites was investigated with an emphasis on the microstructural effect. The thermal conductivity exhibited a sigmoid curve against composition. The compositional dependence was discussed in relation to the theories that have been proposed so far. The high temperature deformation and fracture behavior were evaluated up to 1573 K by means of modified small punch (MSP) test. The brittle to ductile transition temperatures of the composites were found to be more closely related to the continuity of constituent phases rather than the nominal composition.
