【Abstract】 This paper studies the philoso-phy back ground,the connotation andthe theoretic and practical characteris-tics of postmodern urban design,andreveals the successive,rebelling andtranscend relationship that postmodernurban design is to the modern urbandesign. It also reveals the immanenceforce of the postmodern urban design.The paper further argue that there arethree tendencies in the postmodern ur-ban design,namely,the tendency ofHermeneutics,deconstruction andconstruction.
