【Abstract】 Ergis River is the only international river flowing into the Arctic stream system in China. This paper discusses the evolution of the fishes in Ergis River based on the investigation and research on the fish resources in the stream system of the river section in China during 1999～2000, and many samples of the fishes have been collected. The results show that there are 35 fish species (subspecies) including 23 aboriginal, 11 trans-breeding and 1 crossbreeding species (subspecies). The main economic fish species are Esox lucius Linnaeus, Abramis brama orientalis Berg, Leuciscus idus (Linnaeus), Perca fluviatilis Linnaeus, Rutilus rutiluslacustris (Pallas), Leusiscus leusiscus baicalensis (Dybowski), and Hypomesus olidus Pallas, and the rare fish species are Hucho taimen (Pallas), Brachymystax lenok (Pallas), Lata lata Linnaeus, etc. The 4 communities in the fish fauna composition are increased to 5 because Triphophysa (T.) strauchii (Kessler) and Triphophysa (Hedinichthys) minuta (Li) are firstly found and recorded.
