【Abstract】 With the increasing development of broadband technology, the router becomes the key equipment in Internet. However traditional router has some insuperable barriers and is not suitable for the new developments. In this article, we introduce the basic theory, the function and the development of the router, survey the recent advance in the search of the new router, and then analyze the present key technology.
