【Abstract】 Based on the results of thirty years heterosis populations construction and elite hybrid breeding of maize, the empiristic and theoretic population breeding of maize was discussed. Through continuous introduction of elite maize germplasms into the four basic integrate lines, five heterosis populations, Reid, Lancaster, Dom, Tang C, and Tang D, and three heterosis models, Reid X Dom, Lancaster X Dom, and Tang C X Tang D, were constructed.
