高速数字光通信系统中高阶PMD限制研究

【摘要】 从高阶偏振模色散(PMD)的定义出发,在所建立的高阶PMD数值模型的基础上,通过数值模拟的方法探讨了高阶PMD对于40Gbit/sNRZ系统的影响.计算结果显示,当PMD大于8ps时,在一阶PMD完全补偿的情况下,高阶PMD所造成的眼图代价将大于2dB.这表明在高速数字光纤通信系统中,高阶PMD效应已经十分明显且不容忽略.

【Abstract】 The definition of higherorder polarization mode dispersion (PMD) is presented firstly in this paper. Then, based on the numerical model of higherorder PMD introduced in it, the impact of higherorder PMD on the 40 Gbit/s NRZ systems is discussed with numerical simulation. The result shows that if the PMD is higher than 8ps, eyeopening penalty due to only higherorder PMD will be larger than 2 dB. This demonstrates that the effect of higherorder PMD on the high bitrate digital fiber communication systems is very obvious and cannot be neglected.
