【Abstract】 This article summarizes the results from the studies on the investment rates of return in R&D.The results suggest that the rates of return for private and public R&D spending are considerably high. Mansifield’s quantitative researches on academic research and industrial innovation provide convincing arguments that basic research plays a critical role in industrial innovation. This paper reviews Mansifield’s approach and points out its limitations.更多还原
