【Abstract】 The traditional linear time is artistically handled in modem autobiographies when they turn to the explo- ration of the psychological reality of the hem with emphasis on interpretation. In Les Mots, S. P. Satre weaves his childhood stories around words with linear time ignored. In Moments of Being by V. Woolf, the past and the present are interwoven into a temporal pattern in which the understanding of the past is deepened with the aid of the present while the past is beng copied. The writing of autobiography becomes a consolation to the autobiographer for the present. In Speak, Memory, Nabokov totally removes time and multitudinous fragments of life are melted in the furnace of imagination into non-time situations and concepts producing a narrative effect of symphony. By regrouping of time they have improved the literariness of this particular genre-biography.更多还原
