【Abstract】 With a comparatively small quantity of participants, g am bling didn’t form a serious social problem in early Qing dynasty. However, when it came to its middle and late periods, with a large variety of forms, a wide co verage of aread and a great number of participants, gambling brought very ill ef fects to the society. It was rooted in the corruption of the middle and late Qin g governments, which resulted in a fable immunity of the society against gamblin g and a considerable number of unemployed citizens to whom gambling made a great attraction for its entertainment and lucrative potentiality. This paper puts fo rward the thesis point that gambling is closely related to political corruption. The more corrupted a government is, the more popular gambling becomes. Gambling , as a barometer of political corruption, can accelerate the corruption and dege neration of the government in return.更多还原
