【Abstract】 Pragmatic Competence defined as the appropriate use of language for communication, is the ultimate goal of learning a language, Although the factors affecting the development of Pragmatic Competence are many, the non-linguistic factors, such as cognition and psychology, play important roles. Following Verschueren’s view that "using language must consist of the continuous making of linguistic choices", this paper discusses the effects of socially/culturally - based cognitive and psychological process on the choice-making of language forms for appropriate communication.更多还原
