【Abstract】 The small brown planthopper Laodelphax striatellus(Falln) from the field could be reared on its host plants rice, wheat and barnyardgrass in the laboratory, but barnyardgrass was the best for rearing.The virus borne small brown planthopper, which could be supplied to healthy plants for virus inoculation,should be reared on the virus-infected plant from the low instar for more than 3 days and then after more than 15 days for virus incubation and multiplication.The virus-infected plant could be gotten in the field or in the laboratory.
