A new high selective reagent 5-(2-hydroxy-5-sulfo-phenylazo)-rhodanine (S-HBAR) has been synthesized. In H_3PO_4 medium and in the presence of surface active agent of OP, S-HBAR reacts with Pd ( Ⅱ ) to form a stable red complex with maximum absorption at 500 nm. Beer's law is obeyed for Pd(Ⅱ) in the range of 0-70μg/25 mL, its apparent molar absorptivity is 3.5×10~(4)L/(mol·cm) . The proposed method has been applied directly to the determination of palladium in Pd-C catalyst and ore samples with satisfactory...
