【Abstract】 Variety, opening, independence and practicality are main features of American higher education, which are shown in the following respects: distinguishing features in admission principles, admission methods, examination forms and admission standards; the principle of opening in administration of students and teachers for the mobility of teachers and students and their contact with society; equal and harmonious relationship between teachers and students and independent and flexible teaching methods; courses and specialities suitable for the needs of society and laying stress on training of practical personnel.
