【Abstract】 HVDC Light is a new DC transmission technology for lower power transmission based on the insulated gate bipolar transistors and voltage sourced converters. It can be widely used for its easy and simple control and operation as well as for its good output waveforms. This paper studies the operational mechanisms of HVDC Light, and presents a thorough analysis of its waveforms and the power as well as the operational characteristics.
