【Abstract】 Dye vat is a key equipment in printing and dyeing industry. Large rectangular opening should be provided for putting in or out raw cloth materials. Up to now, there is no common design method for this structure in home and abroad. In general, dye vat will be subject to a pulsing load because of the frequent opening and closing of the flange, and therefore, reducing stress concentration factor is an effective way to prolong the fatigue life of dye vat. Based on systematic analysis and comparison of reinforced structures avail- able, and detail analysis of the magnitude and distribution of the stress near the orifice in the vat body, a reinforcement is designed for the large rectangular opening effectively to reduce stress intensity.
