【Abstract】 George Bernard Shaw was an outstanding English realistic playwright.His five-act legendary comedy Pygmalion describes Professor Henry Higgins,a prestigious linguist who buys for 5 pounds Eliza,a poor flower girl in the streets as stakes,to make experiments,trying to change her utterances,package her outward appearance,and cause her to seem like a young noblelady.Eliza born poor,however,is reluctant to live a life ordered about and ill-treated spiritually by others and wants to return to her ariginal life.The story of the play reveals the author’s irreversible Fabianist ideas which claim that "one who is respectable respects oneself and one who is humble humbles oneself".更多还原
