HEALTH IN WORKERS CHRONICALLY EXPOSED TO CARBON DISULFIDE ON LOW CONCENTRATION
【Abstract】 Objective To explore health among workers chronically exposed to carbon disulfide(CS2) on low concentration. Methods Levels of carbon disulfide in workshop over the last ten years was measured and analyzed. Health status in 150 viscose rayon workers and 87 non-exposure to CS2 workers, including subjective symptoms, eyeground, blood pressure, electrocardiogram, and so on, was examined and evaluated. Results On the whole concentration of CS2 over the last ten years was below the maximum allowable concentration(MAC) of CS2 which is 10mg/m3. However, when exposure duration to CS2 was over 10 years, complaints in workers, such as dysmnesia, insomnia, and abnormality of eye significantly increased(Odds ratio equal 19.69. 15.43. 8.07 respectively). Rates of abnormality of eyeground, electrocardiogram, field of vision and ultrasonic in viscose rayon workers are higher than those in control groups(P<0.05). Conclusion Health of workers was affected due to chronic exposure to CS2.
