【Abstract】 Good results have been attained in China in HIM both during the initial stage and the stage of rapid popularization and development. However, some drawbacks have appeared in HIM in the course of development. In the late 1990s, the Ministry of Public Health adopted various measures, including revising Regulations for Hospital Disinfection Techniques and Regulations for HIM, changing the site of the national hospital infection surveillance network and holding seminars on national HIM, sponsored by its Medical Administration Department, to closely integrate HIM with hospital infection surveillance, control and training and clarify the present stage tasks.
