EFFECT OF SUBARACHNOID HEMORRHAGE ON CEREBRAL BLOOD FLOW AND SOMATOSENSORY EVOKED POTENTIAL IN RATS
【Abstract】 Aim: To investigate the changes of cerebral blood flow, latency of somatosensory evoked potential (SEP) , and nitrio oxide (NO) levels in both serum and brain tissue after subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Methods:Rat SAH models were used and animals were divided into sham-operated group and SAH model group. Dynamic changes of regional cerebral blood flow(rCBF), latency of SEP, and NO levels in both serum and brain tissues were detemined within 24 hours after operation. Results: The noncraniotomy method used in this study reliably induced SAH in rats. rCBF was decreased immediately after SAH being produced, with no tendency to recover within 24 hours. Latency of SEP was delayed progressively from 1 hour to 24 hours. NO levels in serum and brain tissue were decreased and increased respectively from 1 hour to 24 hours after induction of SAH.Conclusion: SEP is useful in the judgement of brain ischemic damage after SAH. Decrease of NO levels in serum and increase of those in brain tissue are important factors leading to cerebral vasospasm and ischemic brain damage respectively after SAH.
