The case analysis of forecasting faults in the No.1 open pit in Huolinhe was made. The result shows that the MRAGC method is better than both the trending surface and the geological graphics in picking up the fault information and in precision of forecast. The positions of four faults were revised and seven new faults were forecasted based on the mean rotation angle of the floor of coal seam 14. Among them, three revised faults and one new forecasted fault has been testified by mining activities.
