【Abstract】 The development and evolution of the concept of quality of life(QOL)is firstly introduced. The current status and problems on the studies of QOL are reviewed. The application of QOL in six fields of health care is summarized, including measuring of health condition in general or special populations, assessing QOL of the patients suffering from cancer or other chronic diseases, comparing the scheme of clinical treatments, evaluating the projects on preventive intervention and health care, policy - making on allocation and utilization of health resource and exploring the main factors concerned with health care.
