【Abstract】 Giant soft- shelled turtle, Pelochelys cantorii Gray, 1864 (formerly identifies as Pelochelys bibroni [Owen, 1853]), is one of the First Grade Protective Wildlife of the State It ranged over the river s, lakes, or reservoirs sou th of the Yangtze River in the past In Zhejiang Province it is now found in O u jiang River only and is nearly extinct in the wild This paper reports on surv e ys of the giant soft- shelled turtle along Oujiang River in Zhejiang Province T he reproductive habits, especially depositing eggs on land, observed during surv eys are introduced The number and current, serious status of this soft- shell ed turtle are discussed Suggestions for further protection of this turtle are p rovided更多还原
