【Abstract】 This paper recorded goatfish-31 species in western Pacific, which belong to the genera Upeneus, Parupeneus, and Mulloidichthys. It listed the genera, species and their retrieve tables and reported the distribution of each species. The paper discussed the biodiversity characteristics, zoogeographical point of goatfishes in western Pacific. The goatfishes in western Pacific belong to fauna of India Pacific. The seas in China form the north edge of this fauna. The Mullidae in this area has a high diversity. In China most of the goatfish species live in the South China Sea. This paper also corrected some species’ nomination. Mullidae has a great significance in marine resources and fisheries, but it is declining now because of environmental damage and heavy fishing.更多还原
