【Abstract】 Heated debate characterizes the decade prior to the American War of Independence, when the American people turned against the British “new colonial policies.” The debate began with claims for the rights of the colonial people, and led to a denial of British sovereignty over North America. It aroused awareness among the local people of their current plight, and a belief in independence, and helped to shape the theoretical and logical framework for the Declaration of Independence. By means of this debate European political philosophy was converted into a common sense among the North American people, and laid the foundation for American political liberalism.更多还原
