【Abstract】 Douglass C. North is a well-known American economist, the winner of the Nobel Prize on economy. He mainly contributes to the initiative research in the field of institution and the change of institution. It is his combination and integration of the theory of state with the theory of property rights that has made him one of the representatives of the new institutional economics. The state theory of the new institutional economics advanced by North has greatly enriched the state and government theory in politics and administration. This thesis reviews North’s institution, state models and state destinations, the theory of the relation between the state and property rights and the theory of institution and government function, and also byiefly deals with the significance of North’s theory of which we can draw on some useful experiences.更多还原
