【Abstract】 Based on analysis of wood property variation of Loblolly pine( Pine taeda L.)with different provenances it is shown that basic density has significant tendency;the basic density of the provenances in the inshore of the southwestern U.S.is relatively higher;the differences of wood property among provenances are not significant while those in provenance are significant;growth and wood property are independent,so growth selection and wood property selection can be combined.11 quantitative indexes for growth、wood property,adaptability and hardiness are used to carry out principal component analysis and cluster analysis,6 superior provenances are selected for different purposes in the northern subtropics.
