网络并行计算系统的消息存储器网络接口设计
Message Memory Network Interface Design in Network Parallel Computing
【摘要】 文中通过定性分析典型并行应用程序 ,提出并定义了消息传递无关因子 R,即堆中的数据的传递在整个消息传递中所占比例 .而后在一个实际的 NPC环境中对一组典型并行应用程序进行踪迹统计 ,证实了 R接近 1的分析 .根据这个定性分析以及定量统计结论 ,结合存储器技术的进展 ,在 NPC中的网络接口上引入了消息存储器 ,使得 NPC中各个结点可以直接访问其它结点的消息存储器 .通过实验得出结论 :在设置了消息存储器的网络接口的 NPC中 ,消息传递的额外开销可显著减少
【Abstract】 In this paper, some typical parallel applications are analyzed qualitatively. A fact is revealed that the transferred data seldom come from the Stack, but mainly from the Heap in message passing. R is used to represent the message passing irrelevant factor, which is defined as the ratio of the messages from heap data and the whole messages. The tracing results of a pack of typical parallel applications in a practical network parallel computing environment show that the value of R is close to 1, which confirms the analysis. Considering the technical development in memory industry, the architecture setting the message memory in the network interface of NPC is proposed in this paper. In this architecture, a node of NPC can access the message memory in other nodes. The experiment result verifies that the overhead of message passing can be reduced efficiently in the NPC with message memory in its network interface.
