【Abstract】 This paper presents the main marine algae that excrete ichthyotoxin when harmful algal blooms break out. Although mechanisms of some of these toxins are not very clear, results from the present studies showed that ichthyotoxins included paralytic shellfish poison (PSP), brevetoxin (BTX), hemolytic toxin, cytolytic toxin and ammonium. Results also showed that red tides which were associated with large amounts of mortality of cage reared fishes in the coast of South China Sea from the fall of 1997 to the spring of 1998 were caused by ichthyotoxin producing algae Phaeocystis cf. globosa and Gymnodinium mikimotoi respectively.更多还原
