ORE-FORMING MATERIAL SOURCES OF THE COPPER DEPOSITS FROM SANDSTONE AND SHALE IN LANPING-SIMAO BASIN,WESTERN YUNNAN AND THEIR GENETIC IMPLICATIONS
【Abstract】 The copper deposits, occurring in the Lanping-Simao basin of western Yunnan, are the new type of copper deposits showing many unique features. The copper deposits exist in the Mesozonic and Cenzonic clastic rock formation composed of sandstone, siltite and argillite. In the light of the results of Q-cluster analysis of rocks and ores and the rare earth element distribution patterns, it is reasonably assumed that the ore-forming substances of copper deposits have affinity mainly with red clastic formation and underlying rocks. The S,C,Si,Pb,H and O isotopic compositions show that the ore-forming materials were mainly derived from the country rocks, the underlying rocks ,and partially deeper sources and the ore-forming solution from the ancient meteoric water. The amount of the hydrothermal fluids in mineralizing and altering systems was relatively small.
