【Abstract】 My first and second field geological work on the researching mirabilite, coal deposits and the geology of Sichuan Basin were under the direction of Mister Hou, a respectable geologist. With respect to the mirabilite, we knew only that the mirabilite was obtained by means of decocting the mirabilite solution, but we did not know where the origin of mirabilite mineral was. Under the direction of Mister Hou, we carefully examined the sequence of rock section, and finally we discovered that the mirabilite was scattered in the upper part of the Cretaceous Strata and deposited in the lower part of those Strata. Mister Hou liked poetry and Chinese painting and was interested in sketching geomorphological maps. His Chinese paintings also bore special geological features. The erudition, active academic thought and serious scientific attitude of Mister Hou have deeply impressed me and been the model of mine for ever.更多还原
