【Abstract】 The lectin from the hemolymph of Mythimmnia separata Larvae was found to have the same activity to agglutinate the red blood cells of human type A, B and O. It could not agglutinat the red blood cells of sheep. This activity was inhibited distinctly by D-galactose and was independent of Ca2+. When the hemolymph was heated at 70℃ for 15 min, its aggluginating activity almost disappeared. The activity was greatly increased by the induction of HaNPV. The lectin was isolated by (NH4)2SO4 salting out, SephadeX G-100 gel filtration and DEAE-PAGE. The molecular-weingt of the lectin was 6. 08×104. It was of glucoprotein.
