【Abstract】 Thoracereopic surgery, an old yet new discipline, has a history of 88 years, undergoing 4 stages in its course of development, namely, development, flourishing, decline and rejuvenation. This au-thor claims that its developmental history can be divided into 5 perieds, viz. embryonic stage of tradtionalthoracoscopic sungery and-its flourishing, stopation period, and the development and mature peried ofmodern thoracoscopic surgmp.
