【Abstract】 A double development thin layer chromatographic method was established to separate and determine the amount of tremulacin, treulodin and salicin in the leaves of Populus tomentosa Carr. by HPTLC plate.The plates were developed twice in a solvent system of dichloromethane-ethyl acetate-methanol-water (2: 1. 5: 0. 5: 0. 05) and color development with a-naphthol-sulfonic acid-ethanol solution.
