【Abstract】 There is a variety of changes made in the coming 2000 Population Census as compared with the 1990 one with respect to the reference time, the method of census registration, and the census items. While this improvement meets the new situation to certain extent and intensifies census practicality, there is still much to be open to question. Examples are that too many items are designed in the long questionnaire with some being insignificant, and few items and their choices are not well prepared.
