【Abstract】 In recent years, the gross output value of the information industry in the world is over 1000 billion and it has become one of the most rapidly developed industries.Great attention is paid to the construction of infrastructure of information industry in many countries. The development of geoinformatic industry will be concentrated on the applications of new techniques including RS, GIS, GPS, and information network, etc.In the RS and GIS center of the GIG, some work such as the “fuel storing” or data cumulating, thematic application system creating and various applied models studying is condutced,where the projects of “environment and resources database for the Pearl River Delta”, “Guangdong land management information system”, “Remote Sensing information development of spatial database of the Pearl River Delta”, and “Geo-science spatial database on the Internet with Web technique” etc. are involved. However, there are still many problems that need to be solved for development of the geoinformatic industry,for example, those concerning the standard and rules of the geoinformatic industrialization, data sharing, and talent qualified training etc. Efficient measures should be taken to promote the industrialization,and the formation of the chain:technique→engineering→industry→products→commodities.更多还原
