Several typical coatings including alumina, blue corundum, black corundum coatings deposited by flame flexible\|cord spray technique are described in this paper. The microstructure of the coatings and their mechanical properties have been analyzed and compared with those of the plasma sprayed coatings. Results indicate the flexible\|cord sprayed coatings have high hardness and binding strength equivalent to those of the plasma sprayed coatings. However, they are rather porous.
