【Abstract】 Different types of digitally modulated signals that have similar, if not identical, power spectral density functions can have highly distinct spectral correlation functions. The spectral correlation of stationary noise and interference is identically zero. These characteristics of spectral correlation can be used to classify modulated signals, even when the signals are buried in noise. In this paper, an algorithm for recognition of modulation types of mobile communication signals, utilizing the spectral-correlation approach, is developed.
