【Abstract】 This study reports on a test on the cross-cultural pragmatic skills of 79 college teachers at-tending the Seminar on Linguistics and Applied Linguistics in Guangzhou Foreign LanguagesInstitute in July, 1985. The paper analizes the cross-cultural pragmatic difference in both prog-malinguistic and sociopragmatic aspects. The result suggests that pragmalinguistic knowledge and knowledge of sociopragmatics are themain trouble sonre in Chinese learners’ pragmatic failure. It has supported the point of viewthat cross-cultural pragmatic knowledge should be taught in class in some way or other.更多还原
