【Abstract】 Mesozoic nonmarine deposits are widely distributed in the basins of western Liaoning,northeastern China.Recent discoveries of exceptionally well-preserved primitive birds, "feathered" theropod dinosaurs,and the symmetrodont mammal,as well as angiosperms from the Yixian Formation attracted attention from the world.However,the division of late Mesozoic strata are debated for a long time.The late Mesozoic strata in Fuxin Basin are well-developed and will play an important role in establishment of stratigraphic sequence and correlation within the basins of western Liaoning.They can be divided into five formations of three groups in descending order:(1) The Sunjiawan Formation of the Songhuajiang Group mainly consists of the purple conglomerates and sandstone.It conformably or disconformably overlies the Fuxin Formation.(2) The Fuxin Formation of the Fuxin Group is composed of clastic rocks with coalbeds.It conformably overlies the Shahai Formation.(3) The Shahai Formation of the Fuxin Group consists of sandstone with coalbeds.It conformably or disconformably overlies the "Yushugou Formation".(4) The "Yushugou Formation" consists of volcanic rocks.It disconformably or unconformablay overlies the Jiufotang Formation.(5) The Jiufotang Formation of the Jehol Group can be further subdivided into upper and lower parts.The upper Yangliutun Beds consist of coarse clastic rocks,fine sandstone,and siltstone with coal seam,while the lower Nihezi Beds are mainly composed of lacustrine mudstone and siltstone.The Jiufotang Formation conformably overlies the Yixian Formation.(6) The Yixian Formation of the Jehol Group are mainly composed of volcanic rocks and interbedded lacustrine deposits.It unconformably overlies the Precambrian or the Middle Jurassic Nanling Group.The stratigraphic sequence of the late Mesozoic in Fuxin Basin can be summarized in the following table:更多还原
