策略博弈视角下虚张声势的脑际同步性研究

【摘要】 人们通常使用虚张声势这一策略来操纵他人的信念来获得收益。尽管虚张声势是成功策略思维的一个重要部分,但其脑间机制尚不明确。本研究采用近红外脑成像的超扫描技术,同时对虚张声势博弈中双方的右侧颞顶联合区的大脑活动进行测量。在这32对被试中,我们对虚张声势的惩罚量(高或者低)和对手类型(人或者电脑)这两个被试内变量进行操纵,以此来探索虚张声势策略下的脑间同步性。结果表明,相比于人机博弈,人人博弈更倾向于使用虚张声势策略,并引发了更强的脑间同步性(高惩罚条件)。在人人交互的情境下,尤其是在高惩罚情境下,使用虚张声势比不使用虚张声势有更长的反应时。在神经水平上,相比于不使用虚张声势策略,虚张声势的使用引发了更强的脑间同步性。这一脑间同步性仅存在于右侧角回,而不在右侧颞顶联合区的其他亚区。此外,相比于低惩罚情境,高惩罚情境会有更长的反应时和更少的虚张声势次数;针对虚张声势的惩罚越强,其脑间同步性越强。这些结果支持了心理理论是虚张声势过程中的重要成分,尤其在高惩罚条件下。据我们所知,这是第一篇记录虚张声势过程中右侧角回的重要作用的文章。

【Abstract】 People commonly use bluffing as a strategy to manipulate other people’s beliefs about them for gain. Although bluffing is an important part of successful strategic thinking, the inter-brain mechanisms underlying bluffing remain unclear. Here, we employed a functional near-infrared spectroscopy(fNIRS) hyperscanning technique to record brain activity in the right temporal-parietal junction(rTPJ) simultaneously in both members of 32 pairs of people playing a bluffing game. We manipulated the penalty for bluffing(either high or low) and the type of opponent(human or computer) to explore interpersonal brain synchronization(IBS) during bluffing. Results showed a higher bluffing rate and(under the high penalty condition) a stronger IBS in human-to-human compared to human-to-computer interaction. In the context of human-to-human interaction, there was a slower response time in bluffing vs. not bluffing under high penalty. At the neural level, bluffing induced a stronger IBS than not bluffing in the right angular gyrus(rAG), but not in other sub-regions of rTPJ. Moreover, high penalty induced a slower response time and a lower bluffing rate than low penalty. The higher the penalty, the higher the IBS. These results support the view that mentalization is heavily engaged in the bluffing process, especially under high penalty. To our knowledge, this is the first study to document the key role of rAG in bluffing.
