【摘要】 Nicotine is widely considered as a main cause for many chronic diseases and lung cancers. We have investigated the effect of nicotine on the function of mitochondria isolated from rat livers by spectroscopic and microscopic methods. The influence of nicotine on mitochondrial respiration, swelling, membrane potential and lipid peroxidation was evaluated. We observed that nicotine could directly affect the mitochondrial membrane properties and induce lipid peroxidation. Notably, nicotine showed a protective effect on Ca2+-induced mitochondrial permeability transition. The results will help us learn more about the biological effect of nicotine at subcellular(mitochondrial) level and propose a way to understand the role of nicotine on Parkinson’s disease.
