Adult male circumcision with a circular stapler versus conventional circumcision:A prospective randomized clinical trail

【摘要】 Introduction & objectives:We investigated the safety and efficacy of a new male circumcision with a circular stapler.Materials & methods:From 1 March to 30 February 2014,441 cases of stapler circumcision and 438 of conventional circumcision were performed.Patients were followed up 1 week,2 weeks,3 weeks,1 month and3 months after surgery.Data were collected and analyzed.Operative time,pain score,blood loss,postoperative complications,and treatment costs were compared between the two groups.Results:Operative time and blood loss in stapler group were significantly less than in conventional group(6.8 ±3.1 mins vs 24.2 ± 3.2mins,p<0.01),(1.8 ± 1.8ml vs 9.4 ± 1.5ml,p<0.01);Intraoperative and postoperative pain score in stapler group were significantly lower than conventional group(0.8 ± 0.5 vs 2.4 ± 0.8 p<0.01),(4.0 ± 0.9vs 5.8 ± 1.0,p<0.05);In addition,stapler group had a significantly lower complications than conventional group((2.3%vs 7.5%p<0.01).However,the costs of stapler group were much higher than those of conventional group(2210.1 ± 50.3 Yuan vs 782.5 ± 45.5 Yuan).Meanwhile,42 patients(9.5%) with stapler needed to take stitches due to bleeding or incomplete wound closure during operation.Most patients(388/441,88.0%) undergone stapler circumcision needed removal of residual staple nails.Conclusions:Circular Stapler is a safe,efficient new device for adult male circumcision.It has some advantages:short operative time,less pain,less blood loss,less complications and better cosmetic results.However,the device still need to be further improved on staple residues.更多还原
