液相型原子力显微镜的研制与金属腐蚀原位研究

【摘要】 本文简要介绍了新型液相型原子力显微镜(AFM)的工作原理、系统结构和独特性能,讨论了该AFM在金属腐蚀研究中的应用。利用液相型AFM对碳钢在氯化钠溶液及铅在草酸溶液中的腐蚀过程进行了原位观察,获得了理想的扫描图像。实验结果表明,金属腐蚀最初起始于原子或纳米尺度,之后逐渐扩大到宏观尺度;金属表面的凹坑或缺陷可加速其腐蚀;而表面突起的结构则被一层层腐蚀。本文的液相型AFM为广泛研究各种金属及其它材料在液相环境中的腐蚀机理提供了方法和工具。

【Abstract】 A new type of atomic force microscope (AFM) in liquid was developed. This article briefly discusses the principle and structure of this AFM, and introduces its unique characteristic. This work detailed reports the applications of the AFM in the research of metal corrosion. By using the AFM, the corrosion processes of carbon steel in sodium chloride solution and Pb in oxalic acid could be observed and the on-spot images of the sample surface were successfully gained. The results indicated that although it often has macroscopic consequences, the metal corrosion typically begins at the atomic or near atomic level, and then proceeds through a pitting mechanism and through an apparent step dissolution process within terraces as well as at step sites and defects. This on-spot scanning AFM provides the method and has been an ideal tool for researchers to further investigate the corrosive mechanism of different kinds of metals and other materials in liquid circumstance.
