【Abstract】 This paper discussed the semantic and syntactic problems in the automatic recognition of "agent-patient" relations. Semantically, the main problems include the animacy of nouns and the classification of arguments of verbs. Syntactically, there mainly includes syntactic position, syntactic parallism, syntactic collocation, the movement of agent and patient, the connotative of agent and patient.
