【Abstract】 To research the ability of inferences about mental states in Chinese children with autism and Asperger syndrome (AS). Methods 21 children with High functioning autism (HFA), 54 children with Asperger syndrome and 70 normal controls(NC) were examined by using Theory of Mind Task. Result In the facial recognition test, the pass rate of HFA group was significantly lower than that of normal control (NC) (p<0.01) , while AS group was no significant difference from NC group; in the false belief tests, the pass rate of AS group was lower than that of NC group and higher than that of HFA group (p<0.01) . Conclusions The children with AS and HFA can recognize simple expression but have deficit in understanding false belief, suggesting that their ability of inferences about mental states is weaker. Deficit in theory of mind is common in HFA and AS, the training for the ability of inferences about mental states is probably helpful for them.更多还原
